Description
The Hong Kong Food Council will hold the "5th Hong Kong International Food Parade" at the Cheung Sha Wan Playground for five consecutive days from November 21 to 25, 2024, from 10:30 am to 8 pm. The food tour has Sichuan as its theme and "Cute Q Red Panda" as its mascot. It has 70 food booths selling a variety of high-quality brands and specialty foods from many countries. Citizens can enter for free, taste delicious food and enjoy performances.
Chairman of the Hong Kong Food Council, Hui Wai-kin, said in his speech at the opening ceremony on November 22 that he believed that the food tour would facilitate shopping for residents in Cheung Sha Wan and Sham Shui Po. Chairman Hui said that the Hong Kong Food Council is composed of more than 30 chambers of commerce and aims to provide a variety of food to the public. Coincidentally, two giant pandas were born in Hong Kong recently, and two more pandas were sent from the Central Government, which can be described as "four blessings", so Sichuan is the theme. Chairman Xu added that in addition to food exhibitions, there were also many exciting performances, including traditional "Tai Gong Pork", "Sichuan Face Changing", folk dance performances, etc. He wished the food tour a prosperous future.
Mr. Wong Yan-yin, JP, District Officer of Sham Shui Po, said in his speech that this food parade will be moved from Fa Hui Park in Mong Kok to Cheung Sha Wan Recreation Ground. He believes that the new venue is close to the MTR station and is more convenient for neighbors than the old location. In addition, the five panda models on the stage were used at the National Day reception. The District Affairs Office showed its "flexibility" spirit and placed them in various districts for citizens to "check in". In his speech, Member of the Legislative Council, Councilor Shao Ka-fai, BBS, JP, from the wholesale and retail sector, suggested that more food tours can be held in various districts to facilitate consumption by neighbors in various districts. He believed that it would help promote the retail industry and wished participants a happy time and happy shopping. .
In addition to authentic snacks, dried seafood, grains and oils, candies, pastries, snacks and health food products, the food tour also arranged a variety of performances. Vocational Training Council and SHINE Skills Development Center students invited visitors to decorate desserts and distributed tableware sets and cookies made by students; students of the Higher Diploma in Applied Nutrition measured body fat and body mass index for visitors (BMI). Panda-themed gifts, cotton candy, nostalgic snacks and various other gifts will be given out every day at the exhibition site! This year, a Sichuan Food Street was added, with more than 15 stalls from Sichuan, allowing citizens to taste local food and specialties and experience the local culture.
